Perceived authenticity of virtual characters makes the difference

چکیده

Conventionally, human-controlled and machine-controlled virtual characters are studied separately under different theoretical frameworks based on the ontological nature of particular character. However, in recent years, technological advancement has made boundaries between human machine agency increasingly blurred. This manuscript proposes a framework that can explain how various characters, regardless their agency, be treated as unique social actors with focus perceived authenticity. Specifically, drawing authenticity model computer-mediated communication proposed by Lee (2020) typology multi-layered is to demonstrate do not have humans yet authentic interactants.

The Difference All-Difference Makes

We perform a comprehensive theoretical and experimental analysis of the use of all-different constraints. We prove that generalized arc-consistency on such constraints lies between neighborhood inverse consistency and, under a simple restriction, path inverse consistency on the binary representation of the problem. By generalizing the arguments of Kondrak and van Beek, we prove that a search al...

Rewiring makes the difference

While canonical pathways and regulatory networks provide a representation of molecular interactions in the cell that appears static and immutable, actual regulatory pathways are anything but. Rather, they appear to reconfigure dynamically as a function of the specific molecular context in which they operate. This was shown initially in yeast (Luscombe et al, 2004) and more recently in mammalian...

Audio makes a difference in haptic collaborative virtual environments

In this paper a study is presented which aimed at exploring the effects of audio feedback in a haptic and visual interface supporting collaboration among sighted and people who cannot see. A between group design was used and the participants worked in pairs with one sighted and one blindfolded in each. The application used was a haptic 3D environment in which participants could build composed o...
